The Society of Professional Audio Recording Services Quick Facts

SPARS:

The Society of Professional Recording Services is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1979 dedicated to supporting the needs of professionals in the audio industry.

 

Mission:

SPARS mission is to foster educational mentoring and networking opportunities for audio engineering students, graduates and aspiring audio professionals.

 

Importance of Mentors:

Mentors supplement technical information with shared experience, tips and knowledge. They provide contacts, life skills, insight, perspective, vision and support.

 

SPARS Mentors:

SPARS network of mentors reaches far and wide including award winning experienced professionals in all areas of the audio industry. Mentors include pros such as Jeri Palumbo (Super Bowl, NASCAR), Leslie Ann Jones (Skywalker Sound/George Lucas), Neil Dorfsman (Dire Straits), Niko Bolas (Rolling Stones) and Danny Flowers (Stevie Wonder).

 

Speed Mentoring:

Speed mentoring enables groups of mentees to meet with experts in various audio categories during twenty minute segments of Q&A. Mentees are encouraged to rotate groups and learn as much as they can about the different disciplines and opportunities in pro audio.

 

Audio Categories:

Today it is important for audio professionals to be as multi-faceted as possible. SPARS offers expert mentors in the following categories:

  • Studio/Music Production

  • Game Audio

  • Live/Broadcast Audio

  • Studio Management

  • Film/Television Audio Post Production

  • Mastering
